Kismet.....this word has foxed me for a long time now.....I'm not sure how do we define this word or what is it's true significance.
I am a muslim. One of the most important tenets of this religion (or any, I am sure) is that the Lord is Almighty. A word which, when understood, can make you tremble and move the ground under your feet. Allah is Almighty. Period.
Now....kismet. To put it simply (as I understand it), You will get no more or no less than what has been ordained for you. Isn't my Lord the almighty? Can I not ask him for anything and expect him to bestow it opon me in his glorious ways? Then why such limitations? Does He have any boundaries? Certainly not.
Kismet, my friends, is the will of the lord. His will defines what we get and what we don't. There is nothing more and nothing less to it.
Period. Full period. Full stop.

Ah .... Finally the universal truth dawns upon you !! This is just the beginning .. reach out within and the story becomes clearer
U r full of surprises! A welcome departure from your usual threads!
You set me thinking of what I make of my kismat. How I look at it...I feel that my current life is a sum total of all my previous lives, and what I made of the signs that God had sent my way then and how I interpretted them and the choices I made in all of them. Just as the things I do in the current one will add to how I will fare in the next one.
He rewards with signs of incremental complexity with stakes getting higher accordingly, the ultimate prize is Nirvana (hmm, I'd say candle-light dinner with God!) in this game called life with my beloved God!!!
Loved your article!
